Just a heads up - if your SVZ (or any Sony product for that matter) is still in warranty and you SUSPECT an issue, get Sony to take a look at it.

We have 2 SVZs in our house and the palm-rest on one was getting marks from the screen bezel when closed from the day we bought it. I suspected it was from a just wear and tear so left it be.

How to sign patched nvidia drivers?

I'm running latest nvidia drivers for the GT-330m for my Sony Vaio VPCZ1: 9.18.13.4192. I use the VAIO_Z1_330M_INF_Patcher.exe.v4.7.zip but unfortunately the driver is not signed. How can I sign it so I don't need to disable driver signature enforcement to install them?

I have taken the plunge and updated my Vaio Pro 13 to Windows 10, so I thought I would share my experience with everyone.

To start off with, my laptop has the latest drivers from Sony installed. (i.e. There is nothing pending in the Vaio Update app) After the update I have only come across a small number of issues and they are:

Hardware

Fixed Hardware Issues
  • Bluetooth was not working (this was fixed by downloading the latest driver from Intel directly)

Hi. New to this forum. Been having a nightmare recently. After re-installing (or rather Microsoft operative re-installing) W7 as a repair installation, I find I can't get onto the internet via my usual Tentel wifi connection. The router is fine, the problem is the network hardware on the laptop and drivers (or lack of). Re-installing has removed the Sony drivers. Some of the laptop works OK (as far as I can tell), but I can't get online, games don't operate properly (Video card issue), and...

I have a Vaio VGC-LT28E (there are about a dozen model variations of the VGC-LT series and almost all use the same BIOS firmware as mine). I want to upgrade my T8100 2.1ghz Intel C2D to a T9500 2.6ghz C2D. I noticed the highest end Vaio LT has a T9300 2.5ghz C2D. The BIOS firmware is the exact same for both my Vaio LT and this high end LT (VGC-LT39U). But, since the high end LT only uses the 2.5ghz and not the 2.6ghz, is there a risk buying the CPU and my BIOS not recognizing it?

DVD caddie as primary HDD

Recently found a VPC-SA laptop that is in good condition for free, but is missing the HDD and ribbon cable.
I purchased a DVD caddie that will hold a HDD/SSD and plan to use it as the primary drive.
Had anyone done this and are there any problems with this idea other than I will not have the use of the DVD player until I can locate the ribbon cable for the factory drive location.

My wife's SVP13215PXB Vaio laptop on Windows 10 has developed a very odd fault. The cursor keys and the delete keys have started working intermittently after a few months of working totally fine after the upgrade to Windows 10. So, on the Win 10 login screen all keys work fine. But when in Windows the cursor and delete keys only work when holding down the shift key. I thought it might be the scroll or num lock stuck on but I've toggled Fn+Del but that doesn't seem to do anything. I've...

Sony VPC128 loud fan on speed mode like a jet

When in speed mode, the fan is very loud when using web broswer even when there is nothing else running in the background. By loud, I mean it sounds like a jet. If I leave the browser on idle, the fans goes back down to being silent. I'm not sure what is going on but in stamina mode, the fan is always quiet. What's worse if upgrading to the latest raid drivers causes the fan on both speed and stamina mode to run continuously like a jet even with no apps running and the computer on idle.

Hi All, Looking for a bit of help.

I recently replaced the i5/4gb motherboard with an i7/8gb in my Pro 13. My issue is that when watching web videos in Chrome the machine seems to overheat and shutdown. Its not your normal windows crash so I'm very confident this is due to heat. The machine is extremely stable apart from this issue.

1) Is there a chance that Sony used a less powerful fan in the i5 machines which causes mine to be unable to cool this i7 CPU ?

Can somebody tell me the correct order to install the driver to regain the full setting in the vaio control center. I know I should do a clean reinstall of the drivers but I simply don't have the time plus I can afford to loose or my current setting and data. The only setting I have atm is the information and network setting. The Ethernet port doesn't seem to work either.

I have a Sony Vaio Fit 15A with i7-4500u CPU and 1 bar of 8GB 1600MHz DDR3L RAM.
Can I upgrade my RAM to 2x 8GB 1866HMz or 2133MHz?

Will Vaio support these frequencies or will the frequencies just be downclocked to 1600MHz?

But when I'm going to boot from usb after boot with assist mode the computer have a bootloop .
